ILT20 Could Expand to Saudi Arabia in Future Seasons

The ILT20 may soon cross borders. In the coming years, matches could be hosted in Saudi Arabia as part of the league’s Gulf expansion.

The move comes after the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF) officially sanctioned the ILT20 as both a men’s and women’s competition. This partnership gives the league recognition in the Kingdom and opens a new chapter for Middle East cricket.

The ILT20 has entered into a partnership with the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF)

Saudi Arabia’s Role in ILT20

Although no date has been confirmed for the first Saudi-hosted games, the agreement ensures a direct link for Saudi players. Starting with the ILT20 auction on October 1, every franchise must sign at least one player from Saudi Arabia.

ILT20 chairman Khalid Al Zarooni highlighted the importance of this step:

“Saudi Arabia is a key part of the Gulf region. Its commitment to developing cricket is inspiring. This partnership is built on a shared vision of growing the game beyond borders.”

The collaboration will also focus on talent identification and grassroots cricket development. A development tournament is already planned in Saudi Arabia for next year.

Vision 2030 and Cricket’s Growth

HRH Prince Saud Bin Mishal Al-Saud, chairman of SACF, linked the move to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030:

“This collaboration reflects our commitment to developing cricket in the country. With Vision 2030 placing strong emphasis on sport, this partnership will inspire more young men and women to play cricket.”

What’s Next for ILT20?

The league’s fourth season kicks off on December 2, 2025, across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. The tournament will run until January 4, 2026, featuring six teams and 34 matches.

The Saudi partnership hints at a bigger future. Fans may soon witness world-class cricket in Saudi Arabia, marking another major step in the sport’s regional growth.
