India Thrash UAE as Kuldeep Takes Four Wickets in T20I

Spread the love

India produced a commanding performance against UAE, winning by a massive margin after skittling them for just 57 runs. This was UAE’s lowest-ever total against India in T20Is, and India’s quickest chase in the format, finishing the target in only 4.3 overs.

India 60 for 1 (Abhishek 30, Gill 20*) beat UAE 57 (Sharafu 22, Kuldeep 4-7, Dube 3-4) by nine wickets

It took just 106 balls for India to begin their defence of the Asia Cup with the most comprehensive of wins. It took them just 79 balls to bowl UAE out, and just 27 to chase down their target.

Kuldeep Yadav Leads India’s Ruthless Bowling Attack

Kuldeep Yadav, back in the playing XI after spending a long tour of England on the bench, reminded everyone of his match-winning ability. The left-arm wrist-spinner took four wickets in no time, dismantling UAE’s middle order and effectively ending the contest before it began.

UAE started brightly, scoring 41 for 2 in the powerplay thanks to Muhammad Waseem and Alishan Sharafu. But once Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Sharafu with a searing yorker and Kuldeep entered the attack, the collapse was inevitable.

India’s Balanced Selection Delivers Results

There was intense curiosity about India’s selection choices ahead of this match.

  • Shubman Gill replaced Sanju Samson at the top but Samson retained the gloves.
  • Varun Chakravarthy joined Kuldeep as a second wristspinner.
  • Shivam Dube came in to strengthen the batting at No. 8, leaving Bumrah as the only specialist quick.

This strategy paid off perfectly. Bumrah bowled three overs inside the powerplay for the first time since 2019, taking one wicket and keeping UAE’s top order under pressure.

Player of the match.

Kuldeep’s Ninth-Over Magic

The turning point came in the ninth over, where Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets:

  • Rahul Chopra holed out trying to clear the deep field.
  • Muhammad Waseem was trapped lbw attempting a sweep.
  • Harshit Kaushik was bowled through the gate with a brilliant wrong’un.

By then, UAE were five down, and the rest of the innings collapsed quickly. Shivam Dube added to the misery, claiming three wickets to complete India’s demolition.

Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill Finish the Job

India’s new opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill showed why they are seen as the future of India’s batting. They added 48 runs in just 3.4 overs, playing aggressive shots from the start.

  • Gill danced down the track to flick Mohammad Rohid for six.
  • Abhishek slapped Kaushik over long-off in stunning style.

Even after Abhishek fell, Suryakumar Yadav joined Gill to finish the chase in style with a six off his first ball.

Key Takeaways

  • Kuldeep Yadav has re-established himself as India’s premier wristspinner.
  • Shivam Dube’s bowling gives India a crucial all-round option.
  • India’s batting depth allows them to play aggressive cricket from the start.

This win not only showcased India’s squad depth but also sent a message ahead of upcoming tournaments: India’s T20I team is stacked, aggressive, and ruthless.
