- Implement a functional governance structure
- Progress toward National Governing Body (NGB) status with the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee
- Prevent reputational damage to cricket in the USA
This suspension follows a three-month warning period given in July 2024 for “free and fair elections” and comprehensive reforms.
Management Now Under ICC Control
The ICC will temporarily take over management of USA national teams, ensuring athletes and the sport remain unaffected. The ICC described the decision as “unfortunate but necessary” to protect the long-term interests of the game.
Cricket in the Olympics Remains Safe

The Roadmap for Recovery
A six-step roadmap was created by the ICC’s Normalisation Committee, headed by Jay Shah. It included:
- Adding three new independent directors
- Stepping down of the current USAC Board
- Holding fresh elections
- Applying for NGB status
Since USAC failed to meet these milestones, the ICC enforced suspension.

To lift the suspension, USAC must make demonstrable and specific changes to its governance, operations, and status in the cricket ecosystem. The Normalisation Committee will monitor progress and offer guidance during the transition.
